Local SIGS

5th Friday Conversation SIG
Marcia Brandes, Coordinator

Conversation SIG usually meets whenever there is a fifth Friday in the month, unless the hosts are out of town, and sometimes even then. We usually have 16-25 people, and we serve good munchies, soft drinks, beer, and wine. We start with a little socializing, then organize ourselves around a conversational topic for as long as it stays interesting. Anyone is invited to introduce topics of conversation. No topics are taboo, but sometimes there are small children in attendance. Spouses and friends of members are welcome. We start at 8:00 pm; $2 for the kitty; kitties are in residence and frequently join the group, although they don't talk much.

Garden SIG
Joyce Murphy, Coordinator

The Garden SIG is a group of about 25 Mensa in Georgia members who are interested in plants and gardening. We meet irregularly and keep in touch via an email list. When a member wants to host or coordinate an event they notify me, and I send the information to the list and, if there is sufficient time, coordinate notification to the MOTS and Calendar editors. Sometimes we meet at people's homes and tour their gardens, other times we go to local garden shows or other local events of interest. When someone finds something of interest for the list members, or has plants, cuttings, divisions, or seeds to share they can notify the list on their own. Some of our list members are avid gardeners, others dabble, and still others just like to look.

SIG events may include a home game or a coordinated participation in one of the many free hold 'em games around the city of Atlanta. SIG activities occur at the whim of the SIG coordinator (about every 2-3 months); please email michellebracken@hotmail.com to be added to the distribution list to find out about upcoming events.
